Michigan Workers Killed in 2017
MIOSHA investigated 38 deaths in 2017. The majority of the deaths, 15, were caused by falls. That’s down from 21 fall-related deaths MIOSHA investigated in 2016.
Nine of the workers were killed when they were struck by an object. Four of the fatalities in 2017 were a result of being caught between objects. Three died after suffering electric shock. Two were crushed. Five died for a mix of reasons, including drowning, asphyxiation and entanglement.
