Over-the-Counter Pain Drugs to Carry Bolder Warnings
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it will require over-the-counter pain relievers such as Tylenol and Advil to carry more prominent warnings about the risk of stomach bleeding or liver damage. News of the labeling change comes ahead of a public FDA meeting on how to reduce the risk of liver damage from acetaminophen-containing products. Some companies have already changed the labeling on their products to reflect the stronger warnings. All drug makers must change their warning labels by next April.
