In Warren, Michigan, a man was injured “by exploding fireworks that lodged glass and other debris into his neck, arm and upper torso.” He had been drinking alcohol at the time of the accident.

Drivers to pay more for auto accident catastrophic coverage beginning July 1
LANSING, Mich. (WLUC) – Michigan drivers will pay more to cover the cost of medical care for those seriously injured in an auto accident beginning July 1. The increase, from $160 per vehicle to $170 per vehicle, is part of Michigan’s one-of-a-kind mandate that requires drivers to purchase unlimited, lifetime medical benefits with their auto insurance. Michigan is the only state in the country that requires drivers to purchase unlimited, lifetime medical benefits.

UPDATE: Michigan woman driving motorcycle dies in crash
SHIOCTON, Wis. (WBAY) — The Outagamie County Sheriff’s office says a Michigan woman is dead after a crash involving a motorcycle and a truck.
The crash happened around 4:12 p.m. on Tuesday on highway 54 in the Town of Liberty, near Shiocton.

Fatal jet ski accident in Sister Lakes
CASS COUNTY, Mich. (WNDU) – Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke is reporting that deputies are investigating a fatal Jet Ski crash that occurred in the northeast corner of Magician Lake on Tuesday at around 5 p.m.
The deputies stated that Derek Jackson, 28-years-old from Gobles, was operating the Jet Ski. Witnesses said that Jackson had hit a wave and was thrown from the Jet Ski, then he struck his Jet Ski before landing in the water.

Flipped semi blocks traffic on northbound US-23 near Ann Arbor
UPDATE: The Michigan Department of Transportation reports northbound US-23 at M-14 Exit has the right lane blocked. The left lane is now open.
ANN ARBOR, MI – Traffic is blocked for all lanes on northbound U.S. 23 near east M-14 after a semi-truck overturned at 5:18 a.m. Friday, June 30, police said.

Fourth of July Traffic Fatalities Down, Says Michigan State Police
HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Michigan State Police have reported that the number of traffic fatalities over Fourth of July weekend has gone down since last year.
Preliminary findings show that 11 people lost their lives this year between 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, July 1 through 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4 due to traffic crashes.

Worker Dies After Falling From Catwalk At Little Caesars Arena
DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are investigating after electrical worker died following a fall inside the new Little Caesars Arena.
Detroit Fire Department Deputy Commissioner Dave Fornell said the 46-year-old man suffered grave injuries while working at the construction site around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Police identify man killed in motorcycle accident
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) Lansing police have identified the man killed in a motorcycle accident Monday. Taylor Bishop died when he crashed into the barriers on the west side of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard bridge over the Grand River. The accident closed the southbound lanes for several hours. Bishop was from St. Charles in Saginaw County. Police say he was wearing a helmet. Police have not determined the cause of the accident. They say no other vehicles were involved. AG settles with family of man beaten to death at vets home
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The family of a man who died after a brutal assault at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans will receive $544,000 after settling a lawsuit with the state of Michigan.
In April 2012, 84-year-old WWII veteran Andrew Ball was beaten to death by a fellow resident of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
Menards Loses Appeal In Bay County Wrongful Death Lawsuit
The Michigan Supreme Court won’t intervene in a personal injury case that could have consequences for big-box stores in the state. After hearing arguments months ago, the court said Friday it will let an
appeals court decision stand against Menards, the Wisconsin-based home improvement chain.
