No-fault Reform: What it means for Michigan Drivers

On Wednesday, June 12, Michigan’s new, no-fault bill became a law. It went into immediate effect, but policies won’t change until July of 2020.

?Named “PA0021,” this bill is the result of both

Michigan houses of congress passing no-fault insurance reform bills, and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signing the amended bill May 30.

?This bill was declared “historic” by several news outlets. The House fiscal agency reports that the bill would amend the Insurance Code to make “substantial changes” to Michigan’s no-fault automobile insurance system. This law does not affect comprehensive coverage.
