Car-deer accidents on rise in mid-Michigan
JACKSON, Mich (WLNS) – This has been a busy month for car-deer accidents in Jackson and Hillsdale Counties.
On Thursday troopers from the Jackson post responded to two more accidents.
That brought the total of vehicle-deer crashes to 34 for the month.

Michigan family loses both sons in separate car accidents 3 months apart
A Michigan family is grieving the loss of both of their sons who were killed in separate car accidents only three months apart.
The driver was going as much as 80 mph and sent Ryan flying some 30 feet into a ditch, a local Fox News affiliate reported. The former high school football star reportedly pushed his female friend out of the way when he heard the car coming, taking the hit himself.
Details emerge in deadly Michigan-Arkansas bus crash
A bus ferrying migrant farm workers from Michigan to Texas ran off a highway and hit an overpass in Arkansas on Friday, ripping off the roof and ejecting passengers onto the interstate. Six people were killed and six injured; the driver survived.
Twenty-two people were on board, including the driver from Michigan, when the bus struck a concrete barrier then hit an overpass in North Little Rock around 1 a.m., police said.
Six others who were injured in the accident along Interstate-40 and were released from hospitals, said Arkansas State Police Col. Bill Bryant.
Top 5 dangerous intersections in Mid-Michigan
Residents drive through Mid-Michigan’s busy intersections every day.
However, some carry a higher risk than others for traffic accidents. TV5’s I-Team went to work checking on those intersections and to see if anything is being done to make them safer.
It turns out, not much. Traffic officials said there’s a reason why.
“As I was turning, I had the green arrow and this guy went through the red light and smashed me,” said Karen Kusch, accident victim.
Kusch was involved in a serious accident at the corner of Euclid and Wilder in Bay County. She suffered fractured ribs, a bad bump to the head and several bruises.

Tuesday accidents in Lyon renew calls for road safety
After two accidents on 10 Mile Road during one afternoon last week, Jeffrey Crawford said he is worried that nothing will be done to improve traffic on the roadway before lives are lost and people are maimed.
As more and more people and businesses come to the area, the South Lyon resident said “it is quite clear … we need operating traffic lights at these intersections.”
Civil lawsuit filed in fatal Stony Creek crash
A civil lawsuit was filed today in Macomb County Circuit Court against the driver and front-seat passenger of a car that crashed in May at Stony Creek Metropark in which three teens were killed.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the estate of Emanuel Malaj, who died, by his father and brother against Gregory Bobchick, who survived the accident; Bobchick’s parents; the owners of the Jaguar the teens were riding in; the estate of Jonathon Manolios, who was driving, and Manolios’ parents.
Ruling could expose GM to large verdicts in ignition cases
DETROIT (AP) — A federal bankruptcy judge has ruled that people suing General Motors over faulty ignition switches can seek punitive damages that could cost the company millions of dollars or more.
When General Motors emerged from a 2009 bankruptcy, it became known as “New GM.” The new company essentially was shielded from liabilities of the old company that was left behind.
Motorcycle crash killed Midland 26-year-old in Saginaw County
SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI —Police have released the name of a 26-year-old man killed when the motorcycle he was riding left the road and struck a sign, according to investigators.
The preliminary investigation showed that the motorcyclist, Timothy Ducharme-Patton, 26, of Midland, was riding about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, westbound on Weiss when the motorcycle left the roadway as the road curves at Churchill, Saginaw Township police said. Officers at first withheld the name pending notification of his next of kin.
