Lawsuit against gun maker Remington over Battle Creek man’s hunting death settled
BATTLE CREEK, MI – A Battle Creek woman has settled a lawsuit she filed claiming that a faulty trigger assembly on a popular Remington rifle led to her husband’s death during a hunting trip in Wyoming in 2011. Terms of the settlement are confidential, according to a motion filed Friday by attorneys for Monica Wood asking U.S. District Judge Paul L. Michigan court overturns $4.85M wrongful death award
The Monroe Evening News reports the case involved Mercy Memorial Nursing Center, which cared for 76-year-old Burr Needham while he was recovering from a broken hip. Crash hot spots: Top 20 highest wreck intersections in Jackson County identified
With 25 reported crashes in 2012, this intersection had the highest number of crashes in Jackson County last year. The 20 intersections with the most crashes in the county are those that are heavily traveled and some in areas that have seen economic growth over the years. Study: Michigan Auto Costs Can Drop if Lifetime Care Stays
The Citizens Research Council of Michigan, which studied medical costs stemming from car accidents, said auto insurers pay much higher health care bills than private insurers and government programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Michigan car-deer crashes plummet: Incidents are down by 20 percent since 2009

Escalade, Buick collide in Thomas Township, both drivers suffer ‘minor injuries,’ police say
THOMAS TOWNSHIP, MI — Two drivers were taken to a Saginaw hospital by ambulance after suffering what police believe were “minor injuries” during a crash at the intersection of Graham and Frost. Two fatal accidents prompt questions on M-15 safety
Brandon Twp.- Two fatal accidents at the same location on M-15 in the township within five months of each other have residents and officials concerned. Township Supervisor Kathy Thurman said she and Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Pete Burkett will be contacting the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Traffic Improvement Association regarding the safety of the area near McDonald’s in the 900 block of S. Police: Injury accident slows traffic on eastbound U.S. 10 near M-47

Burton woman dies a day after she was hit by vehicle in Davison Township
The 44-year-old Burton woman who was struck on Sunday night by a vehicle while walking down Lippincott Boulevard near Oak Road has died, according to Davison Township Police.
