Power Plant Caused Health Problems, Lawsuit Claims
Attorneys filed a lawsuit Monday on behalf of a Pennsylvania girl who allegedly suffers from multiple ailments caused by soot from a FirstEnergy Generation Corp.-owned power plant. According to the lawsuit, pollution from the coal-fired plant caused hair loss and other health problems. In one instance soot from the plant coated the home where the girl played everyday, the lawsuit said. Emissions from the FirstEnergy plant in Shippingport have previously led to regulatory fines and environmental lawsuits. Joe Mandak, Philadelphia Inquirer 07/22/2008
