2 Infant Deaths Prompt Reissue of Bed Recall
Two more infants have died as a result of becoming trapped in Simplicity bassinets, prompting the Consumer Product Safety Commission to reissue a 2008 recall. Metal bars on the bassinets are spaced farther apart than federal standards allow. Velcro-attached fabric protectors that cover the metal bars can create a pocket where infants can become trapped. One child became lodged between the metal bars. The bassinets were manufactured prior to mid-May 0f 2008 and were sold under the Graco brand. (8/23) LA Times
